I’m really excited to share that Sociality Squared will be returning to SXSW 2020, and my panel From the Soil to the Soul was not only selected for the Connection & Culture track, but also a SXSW recommended session!

Next March, I’ll be on stage for the sixth year in a row, and thrilled to have FoodtoEat’s Deepti Sharma, NYU food studies professor Krishnendu Ray, and integrative identity coach Dillan DiGiovanni join me to explore how we can align our values with our food choices.
Every year I fall in love with SXSW again. The conference is a platform for ideas and truly THE place for what’s shaping technology and culture. I’ve been attending since 2009, hosting S2xExchange dinners, and have had the incredible honor of being an advisor since 2017. This year, Sociality Squared’s Kristy Beagle also became an advisor and will be joining again in March for her third year.
This panel will build off of and dive deeper into 2019’s panel, Tomorrow’s Perfect Food Narrative, which challenged the audience to reimagine what equity in our culture looks like and to use the power at their fingertips to positively shape the future of food and its narrative.
Our food systems should nourish us from the soil to our souls.
In March of 2020, From the Soil to the Soul will explore value alignment. Here’s the session description:
We’ve accepted diversity of flavors on our plates; however, more needs to be done. Often the people growing, preparing, serving, and ordering food are not treated equally. Soil and nutrition also vary widely. This panel will explore our relationship with what we eat and how it reflects our values. This starts with the need to expand the definition of diversity so that food nourishes us from the soil to the soul, and at every part in our food systems and culture – in our homes, communities, and companies. For example, are brands using their purchasing power with inclusion in mind? Join this panel with two female business owners, an integrative identity coach, and a NYU food studies professor to discover how we as individuals and companies can align our values with our food choices.
